(About Hasui Kawase woodblock prints) Takashima memoirs

It is becoming more popular both in Japan and overseas, and with demand, rare works and works in good condition are decreasing. Hasui has more than 600 works

It is said that most of the publishers, Watanabe woodblock prints, have lost their woodblock prints and many of their works due to the Great Kanto Earthquake.

In addition, since the early works were manufactured and sold overseas, the current situation is that there is little distribution in Japan.

Therefore, the works before the great earthquake are very rare.

Hasui Kawase, the proof of woodblock prints is a sticker / circle created according to the age with the publisher (Shozaburo Watanabe version) so that the age can be understood.

We now have. , There are also woodblock prints made by other publishers (Doi Hangaten, Sakai Kawaguchi, Naomido, etc.),

Speaking of Hasui prints, (Shozaburo Watanabe version, publisher Watanabe woodblock prints) are the main ones.

When selling in Japan, it is generally said that even the initial shaving is the first shaving, but only the age is stated and the first shaving is described.

In most cases, there is no description such as initial rubbing. Therefore, there is anxiety for the purchaser.

First shavings, initial shavings, living shavings, back shavings, and reprints generally depend on the age stamped on the woodblock print.

Judgment will be made based on each "Watanabe seal". (There are about 16 types of stamps from the first stamp to the reprint depending on the age.)

There is a photo document of the handling, so you can judge here. ※refer to the following

In rare cases, there are woodblock prints (trial prints, unfinished products) whose age is unknown (not stamped).

It is possible to judge by judging by the age of production and the quality of the paper.

  • Ovals range from those of the time to the backsliding. The ones that were not reprinted at that time are rare.

The woodblocks of that time were used (first shaving, initial shaving, middle shaving, rear shaving, reprinting in that order).

The ones rubbed with are described as original prints (genuine).
